1. Introduction

OkIllGo ("we", "our", or "us") is operated as a sole proprietorship based in Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the OkIllGo mobile application and our website at https://ok-ill-go.ca.

We are committed to complying with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25). By using OkIllGo, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information (Optional)

OkIllGo can be used without creating an account. If you choose to sign in with Google, we collect:

Your Google display name
Your Google profile photo URL
A unique user identifier (UID) assigned by Google

We do not collect or store your email address.

2.2 Fitness & Activity Data

To provide streak tracking and workout logging features, we collect:

Workout check-in events (date and time of gym visits)
Weekly visit counts and streak counts
Your weekly workout goal
Manually entered workout records

2.3 Location Data

OkIllGo uses your device's location to automatically detect when you arrive at a gym you have registered. Specifically:

Your device's GPS coordinates are used locally to trigger geofence check-in events
Gym name, coordinates, and Google Place ID are stored on your device to define your gym locations
Your precise location coordinates are never transmitted to our servers or stored outside your device

Location access is required only when the app is in use or running in the background for geofence detection. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, though this will disable automatic gym detection.

2.4 Social Features Data

If you use the Buddy or Group accountability features, the following information is shared with your connected buddies or group members:

Your display name and profile photo
Your current streak count
Your visit count for the current week
Your weekly goal
A timestamp of your most recent check-in

These connections are opt-in and established through invite codes. Your full visit history and gym locations are never shared with other users.

2.5 Anonymous Community Data

Aggregate, anonymous statistics are maintained per gym location (total weekly check-ins and top streak). These counters are not linked to your identity or account.

2.6 Analytics Data

We use Firebase Analytics to collect basic usage data, including:

App install and update events
Session activity
A single custom event: workout logged (workout type and whether it was manually entered)

This data is used solely to understand how the app is used and to improve the experience. Firebase Analytics data is retained for approximately 24 months per Google's standard policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and operate the OkIllGo app and its features
Track your workout streaks and progress
Enable buddy and group accountability features
Detect gym arrivals using geofencing
Send workout nudges to your connected buddies (if enabled)
Improve app performance and user experience through analytics

We do not use your personal information for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Data Storage and Security

Account and social feature data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted on Google's servers. Local app data (gym locations, schedules, visit history) is stored on your device using Android's Room database, which is protected by your device's encryption if enabled.

All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption in transit. We implement reasonable security measures appropriate for an independent app developer; however, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

Account and social data: retained until you delete your account
Nudge notifications: automatically deleted after they have been delivered and read
Firebase Analytics data: retained for approximately 24 months per Google's policy
Local device data: retained until you uninstall the app or clear app data

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).

6. Third-Party Services

OkIllGo uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy practices:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics) — used for accounts, data storage, and usage analytics
Google Play Services Location — used on-device for geofence detection
Google Places API — used to look up and store gym location details

We do not use any advertising networks or sell data to third parties.

7. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal information
Request deletion of your personal information
Withdraw consent for collection and use of your data
Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app by navigating to Settings > Delete My Account. This will permanently remove your account, social connections, and synced data from our servers. Local device data will be cleared when you uninstall the app.

8. Children's Privacy

OkIllGo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of OkIllGo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
